Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

What is EMDR?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a powerful, evidence-based therapy designed to help people process and heal from traumatic experiences. By guiding clients through structured eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation, EMDR helps the brain reprocess distressing memories, reducing their emotional intensity and allowing for healthier perspectives.

How it Works with Jamie White Counseling
During sessions at Jamie White Counseling, Jamie, a board certified therapist, guides clients through a safe and structured process. She helps identify specific memories or challenges to target, supports clients in recalling these experiences, and uses gentle eye movements or other bilateral stimuli to facilitate the brain’s natural healing process. Throughout the session, Jamie provides guidance, grounding techniques, and emotional support, helping clients process difficult emotions at a pace that feels safe and manageable.

EMDR at Jamie White Counseling is commonly used for trauma, anxiety, and phobias. Unlike traditional talk therapy alone, EMDR works directly with how the brain stores and processes memories, often providing relief more quickly and effectively.
